The 1986 Statue of Liberty / Ellis Island Foundation commemorative coin program was a very popular one with millions of coins sold. To be completely factual, there was another coin inside the box upon its arrival, but a 1993 silver eagle with some weird, hopefully not artificial, toning happening, but was just loose in the empty slot, without any holder, so I'm thinking he just stuck it in there to keep any questions from being asled The best mother in law in the world strikes again! However, she didn't order this one off QVC, her father, my wife's late grandfather gave this to her, but she said she'd rather me hold and enjoy, as opposed to sitting in a drawer at her house, only to end up lost or stolen!! Now I'll be honest, I never knew this coin existed, but I'm wondering if there was maybe another coin that should've been inside the box? I mean it has a slot for a coin inside the closable, felt cushioned box, but another slot outside the box, that appears to fit the same size coin holder? Was there supposed to be 2 coins in the box? The paperwork talks about a 50 cent piece and a gold version, so being the same size I'd assume it wasn't a different denomination? Did pawpaw get the silver and gold coin, but kept the gold?
